Economics of Love 120718.png

Economics of Love is a student film about a graduate student who attempts to quantify love in terms of economics. The film takes the form of a romantic comedy with a dramatic edge as the characters attempt to find the meaning of love.

My role on the project was to ensure that the film had high-quality music to match the emotion needed in any particular scene, and write cues to tie the scenes together. I worked closely with the director and the editors to synchronize the music to scene transitions and ensure that it impacted in just the right way.

Film: Dive In!

Dive In! is a short film produced for the 48 Hour Film Project, an event with the goal to write, shoot, and complete a short film in two days. The film’s format was given out randomly at the beginning of the event, and it was required to be a silent film about an Olympic athlete.

My role was to score the full silent film without using sound effects in only six hours. Since it was intended to be a comedy, the music had to reflect comedic as well as dramatic aspects, a balance that had to be maintained while at the same time matching the tone of scenes.

Film: Monotone

Monotone is a student short film created in the Student Filmmaker’s Society organization. It took the form of a conceptual multi-genre short film, where multiple directors created separate parts that told a cohesive, unified story. The story focuses on several women who are sick of loud men in their lives. One of them makes a wish, and in the blink of an eye, no man can raise his voice.

My role as sole composer on the project was to write versatile music in a variety of different genres, spanning documentary, romantic music, modern dramatic music, and some other cues. The key was to work with the overall director to create music that would tie the film’s multifarious elements together.

Video Game: KIN

Kin is a student game project created by members of the Student Game Developers organization. Kin takes the form of a 2D open-world, action-adventure role-playing game where players explore a fictional New World as an order of European monks.

For nine months, I worked on Kin as the lead audio designer, and my job was not only to create audio for the game, (both sound effects and music) but also to lead and manage the other audio designers. Achieving a unified vision for the audio and project management were both paramount to this task.
